Interested in contributing / donating pastries to pdx b.a.r.?
For this month, PDX BAR will have a spot at Slabtown Makers Market (2516 NW 29th Ave.) on Sunday July 25,2021. For more details visit their website https://www.slabtownmakersmarket.com/
PASTRY DROP-OFF: There at Slabtown Makers Market on SUNDAY JULY 25 at 9:30am. Please be there as close to 9:30 as possible as the market opens at 11am and we will have to be fully set up by then.
General info: We pre-sell 20-30 pastry boxes once a month and donate 100% of sales to a local BIPOC organization or project. On pick up day for the boxes we also have a small bake sale for walk ups or anyone that was not able to buy a box. There are 9 core bakers that contribute to the boxes. Everyone donates their pastries out of pocket, but we are able to get some supplies usually (flour, butter, salt, honey, etc.) and we always can supply to-go containers and packaging.
We normally have our core bakers provide pastries for the themed monthly box. These boxes include 1 pastry per baker so anywhere from 8-10 items. Sizes can vary but for example, a regular cupcake, donut, or cake slice is usually the portion size we go for. Or if it's something smaller like cookies maybe two per box.
Because we rarely need additional contributors for our pre-sold pastry boxes, the more regularly available option to contribute is providing a pastry for the day of bake sale. This can be any item, sweet or savory, and any amount thereof. Generally people provide 1-2 dozen of whatever baked good they like. It is helpful to communicate any common allergies such as nuts, dairy, etc.
Ideally pastry box items or day of items will be dropped off no later than 9am on bake sale day. If you are not a morning person, we can also arrange for you to drop off your pastries the day before. Because of the incredible generosity of our community of bakers, most of the time we have our pastry needs covered. We would love to add you to our contact list however, if and when we do need help!
Please note: We try our best, but don’t always have a chance to give a lot of notice. If you need to know far in advance to plan your calendar, this may not be the route for you.
Our friends at PDX Resistance Bakers contribute more frequently to events locally so please check them out on Instagram @pdxresistancebakers for more info. This may be a better way for you to contribute to causes!
Thank you for your interest, it truly takes a village!
